Dragon Age Voices – Voice Match – Impressions

I finally decided to do this video I’ve been wanting to do for a while.  Since I’m an avid Dragon Age fan, I selected 12 female characters that I can voice match (some better than others) and do a line for each.  The goal of this exercise is to act the character in her voice without using the exact line from the game, just something like it to show their soul.  Several of them have accents.

For those who don’t know the games, you can easily search the names on Youtube for many other videos and see how close I got.  Below are screenshots of the characters, in order of the video.

A Tale of Mist and Shadow Audiobook

Cover audio 300

I’m so excited that today, my first epic fantasy audiobook hit the market on,, and iTunes!  “A Tale of Mist and Shadow” by M.R. Laver deals with the age-old theme of justice, the law, and second chances, all in a fantasy setting.  Wait… what?  Really!  It’s a wonderfully-woven story with vibrant characters, engaging dialogue, breaking stereotypes and plot twists that keep you guessing.

Any PC gamers who play Skyrim with my AnnaNPCs mod and are fans of Mareen, you’ll love this!  The author also played Skyrim, and when I told him about the mod, he wanted to write one of my characters into a bonus chapter in the book!  I offered up Mareen Nightthorn, whom I thought would fit well into his world and his characters, and I was quite pleased with the bonus chapter he wrote.  Yet another reason to buy the audiobook, yes?

I had a wonderful time performing this audiobook, stretching my acting ability, learning a few new accents, and enjoyed working with the author.  Dragons? Yes! Wizards? Yes! Zombies and vampires?  YES, even those too! Grab it from Audible, Amazon.comoriTunes

Featured ABR Narrator

Today I got a Tweet that I’m featured on The Audiobook Reviewer!  This is pretty cool.  Narrators can fill out their online interview, and answer whichever question they want to (or skip).  I did this some months ago, and added several of my titles and social media links.  Hopefully this will help in promoting my services, and get some more bookings.

New Audiobooks

AudioInBlood1A few days ago, Secrets In Blood went through final approval with author Patricia D. Eddy, and she was thrilled.  It was probably my favorite audiobook I’ve done so far, (largely because of all the Italian phrases), but also for the whole different outlook on vampires the book presents.  I’ve also agreed to do the next book in the series, Revelations In Blood, which is expected to be completed (meaning, its rewrite), sometime in the summer.

Patricia wrote this wonderful testimony, which is also now on the Testimonies page:

“Anna Castglioni’s performance of Secrets in Blood went above and beyond my expectations. She was able to convey my characters’ emotions so well that I often found myself on the edge of my seat. Through Anna’s voice, I heard my words as if for the first time. She’s easy to work with, has excellent instincts, and added small touches here and there that took the book from wonderful to truly outstanding.”
~Patricia D. Eddy (

AudioCoyoteI also just completed a short audiobook that just went on Audible:  3 Coyote Tales by Gini Graham Scott:  3 folktales as told by Native Americans.  It is targeted toward young audiences and teaches lessons through morals.

Recording and Books

With my new recording area set up, Secrets in Blood audiobook is back in recording!  I practice the Italian accent by reading Italian, so that when I switch back to English, it sounds as natural as possible.  I also speak in it all day.  My husband and friends have accepted it as pretty much normal with me, and have stopped even mentioning it.  They know I’m practicing an accent.  I’m looking to narrate some short stories in Italian, and in Spanish, legends and fables, to add to my repertoire.

Recently I filled out the survey for ACX University this year.  I must have joined ACX just shortly after the one for 2015, as I had missed it.  I can’t wait for this next one, where hopefully I can pick up some more tips about audio engineering, to make my processing better and constantly improve.

I’ve also been writing a lot for my other books, particularly the one on home landscape design.  In Plan to PLANted, I give professional tips and tricks for planning and designing your landscape.  While the plants I talk about are local to southern California, the planning guidelines can be applied anywhere.

When I lived in Italy in a Fall of 2004 study abroad, I kept a daily journal in Italian, and later translated it to Enlish and elaborated in parts, originally intending to publish it as a young girl’s account in Italy.  However I did not publish it then for a few reasons, or eve now many years later.  From time to time I return to it and add things, remove others.  The plan is to finally publish it this year and make it an audiobook as well:  La Viaggiatora (The Traveller).

New Year, New Projects

After an eventful holiday season, which included a very long and lingering head cold, and a move, I’m planning several new projects in the coming months.

First up are 2 new audiobooks I began last month:  Black Jacks 2: A Killer for the Queen, a mystery fiction by Shaun Webb, and Secrets In Blood, an urban vampire romance by Patricia D. Eddy.  These will continue as soon as I get a new studio constructed.

In addition, I have begun writing 2 books of my own!  The first is about landscape design for the homeowner in San Diego and southern California.  As I’ve been in the profession for 10 years, I decided to write this to help people.  It’ll be filled with advice, planning tips, sample designs, and vendor info that I hope will prove useful to the average homeowner who wants a great design but needs a bit of help.

My other book will be about video gaming, which is actually the hobby that led me to seek a career in voice acting and voiceover.  I’ll give readers handy tips and tricks for game modders who want to mod Skyrim.  Both of these books will have an audiobook to accompany them.

Oh, and I have to mention this new company I’m getting in with:  Ready 5.  What is it?  *Drum roll*  It’s an adventure company.  To quote the owner, “Take REI, and add sword fighting, guns and archery, that’s Ready 5.”  They’ll be producing a bunch of instruction videos, and guess who’ll be doing the voiceover!  I’m super psyched about this.

My professional demos will take another few weeks to be fully produced, and I can’t wait.  I’ll be giving them out to production studios in my area, and emailing them all over, so keep posted 🙂
